Hummingbirds in the Trenches

7th December 2018 by Will Stewart

Brooklyn based director Jackson Tisi does a fantastic job of both showcasing the talent, and telling the story of an inspiring performer. Baltimore based writer, performer and activist Kondwani Fidel grew up in poor neighbourhood torn apart by drugs, but against it all found a way to not only survive, but to flourish. Fantastic spoken word in today’s short doc, and a message we can all find strength in.

“If we can say someone is born ambitious then we can say someone is born lazy. I’m not going to believe that 97% of people born into poverty are lazy. [My] ambition was learnt.”
